Eastern Village

An Unreal Marketplace scene (FIRST IMAGE) I relit in the style of Kena and the Bridge of Spirits (LAST 4 IMAGES). The most difficult aspect was pushing the dramatic effect of the bright temple lights. With what I had in engine, I had to find a balance between getting those intense godrays that would reach to farther parts of the scene while not completely blowing out the temple once the player got close up.
To get the ethereal spirit flame effect in the blue lanterns, I couldn't just create an emissive material for the lanterns. Since it included the lantern itself and everything attached to it. Instead, I added translucency to the lantern material. That way I could place point lights directly inside the lanterns and give them a glowing effect.
